Welcome to Elements of Massage
As a remedial massage therapist I love that the body has the ablity to heal itself from many ailments. However, it often needs help to do this optimally. Many people have healed from rolled ankles, torn muscles, or shoulder injuries but have lost range of motion or have permanent scar tissue formations. While your body can heal it doesn't always do it optimally.
It's often apparent from a simple glance in the mirror that your posture may have changed over time. Posture is influenced by muscle tension and imbalance, which can lead to misalignments. Bone remodeling is a continual process that maintains bone strength and helps bones adapt to mechanical stress. When muscles exert undue stress on bone structures due to improper behavior, functional issues may evolve into structural problems, making correction difficult.
My role as a massage therapist is to work with your body to allow it to heal optimally by correcting muscle and joint dysfunction and create sustainability by strenthening weak muscles.

Massage and manual manipulation therapies target the soft tissues of the body, encompassing muscles, tendons, and ligaments. These techniques are instrumental in alleviating pain and reducing stress.
Some benefits of regular massage can include the provision of pain relief, immune system support, injury resilience and improved posture.
The benefits of regular massage are about more than just feeling good. Each session is training your body to maintain its relaxed state and teaching your muscles to remain loose even during high-stress periods.
At the start of each session, your health history is reviewed. Goals will be established and I will work toward providing you with the best outcomes. Although massage therapists don't provide diagnostic services for health issues, we maintain a proactive approach to your well-being. If required, we may refer you on to other health professionals to ensure you receive the most appropriate care.

Swedish massage, one of the most popular massage modalities today, was developed by Per Henrik Ling, a Swedish fencing master, in the early 19th century. Ling's techniques were initially designed to improve circulation and muscle function in athletes but have since become widely used for general health and wellness.
Massage can trigger the release of endorphin and neurotransmitters that act as natural painkillers and mood elevators. Massage therapy can reduce levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, while simultaneously increasing levels of oxytocin, the "bonding hormone." This unique combination of physiological effects not only helps alleviate physical discomfort but also fosters feelings of connection, relaxation, and emotional well-being.

Remedial Massage is designed to treat dysfunction. A remedial massage is not an "extra pressure" massage. This is targeted treatment for muscles and joints that are most likely related to your specific pain. Includes assessment and a combination of myofascial, joint mobilisation, trigger point, neuromuscular, positional release and muscle energy techniques. Remedial massage contributes to mobility and function.
Dry needling is a therapeutic technique that involves inserting fine needles into specific trigger points to release muscle tension and reduce pain. During the session, the needles target areas of muscle tightness, helping to improve mobility and alleviate discomfort. Dry needling is not effective for everyone so we can discuss the pro's and con's.
Cupping therapy involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This suction gently lifts the skin and superficial muscle layer, promoting blood flow and releasing tension. Cupping is known to effectively alleviate muscle pain, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation. By potentially drawing out toxins and stimulating the body's natural healing processes, cupping can help alleviate various ailments.
Reflexology applies pressure to specific points on the feet or hands that are linked to various organs and systems. It helps alleviate pain by promoting relaxation, reducing tension, and improving circulation. Reflexology contributes to overall well-being, supporting stress reduction and balancing energy flow. This holistic approach can enhance the body's natural healing abilities.
Relaxation massage primarily aims to reduce stress and induce a state of calm. While not specifically focused on pain relief, its benefits include the release of minor muscle tension, improved sleep quality, and mood enhancement. The overall relaxation achieved may indirectly contribute to a reduction in pain and discomfort, promoting a sense of well-being.
